Electromagnetic Compatibility in the Automotive Sector

Turn an existing structural FE model into a ready-to-run EM model in ANSA

EM models are not structural models. Conductive parts that sit close together have to be physically connected. Mid-surface gaps must be closed with FE elements. Electrically isolated parts have to stay isolated. And the mesh runs the opposite way from other disciplines: coarsened to about a tenth of the wavelength rather than refined. Rebuilding a separate model for each discipline drives up cost. The common model concept solves that. Start from the structural FE model you already built and convert it in ANSA.

Inside the ebook:

  • How to isolate the conductive parts that drive EM behavior using ANSA's filtering options
  • How Bridge, Fill Gap, and Connect Flange identify proximities and establish electrical conductivity between parts
  • How Batch Mesh applies wavelength-appropriate element sizes by region, with automatic detection and fixing of penetrations
  • How the ASERIS-BE interface in ANSA, with META results display, streamlines immunity, emissions, and interference workflows
  • Two worked cases: full-vehicle immunity under a log-periodic antenna from 200MHz to 1GHz, and Ethernet-to-FM-antenna crosstalk comparing floating and common ground

Who it's for: EMC and electromagnetics CAE engineers, plus the infrastructure and methods owners reusing FE models across disciplines to cut model maintenance.
