PSpice Smoke Analysis Example

1. Open the Circuit Schematic

2.Run a functional simulation

3. Once the simulation completes, the wave graph results will display.

4. From the PSpice menu, select Advanced Analysis and click on “Smoke'

5.PSpice will generate Smoke Analysis Result.

As you can see from the graph, even for functionally correct circuit designs, there are still components and parameters that are stressed beyond acceptable limits revealed using PSpice Smoke Analysis.

6. How PSpice Helps

Replace the existing circuit component with appropriate electrical specifications, add a heatsink to manage increased junction temperature, and re-run the Smoke Analysis. The updated smoke Analysis result will show all green to verify safe operating limits.
